CCC Public Affairs Shows Return this Week with Candidate Forums

After a Summer hiatus, public affairs programing produced by Cayuga County Community College’s Telecom/Media Department will return this week, as well as the first in a series of Candidate Forums, co-sponsored by The Citizen.

On Tuesday, October 6th, “The 126th Assembly District Forum” with Assemblyman John Lemondes (R & C) and challenger Ian Phillips (D & WFP) will be the first of several forums held at the College. Questions will be asked by the Citizen’s Government & Public Policy Reporter Robert Harding and Guy Cosentino will moderate the forum. The forum airs at 7 PM on Spectrum 12 on Tuesday and at 7:00 PM on Thursday the 8th. It will replay on Spectrum’s 12 & 98 and FIOS Verizon Channel 31 on Saturday, October 10th and Sunday, October 11th at 5:00 PM from the Auburn Regional Media Access (ARMA).

That forum will be followed by be an “Inside Government with Guy Cosentino” interview with 131st Assembly candidate Dr. Philip Fleming (D) who is running for an open Assembly seat representing southern Cayuga County against Republican Mark Benjamin (R & C). Mr. Benjamin could not attend the date set for the forum. As per past practice, if a candidate chooses not to participate in a forum and their opponent does, they are given a one on one “Inside Government with Guy Cosentino” interview. The seat is currently held by Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan, a Republican, who did not seek re-election. The interview airs at 8 PM on Spectrum 12 on Tuesday and at 8:00 PM on Thursday the 8th. It will replay on Spectrum’s 12 & 98 and FIOS Verizon Channel 31 on Saturday, October 10th and Sunday, October 11th at 6:00 PM from the Auburn Regional Media Access (ARMA).

On October 20th will be the “The 48th Senate Forum” will feature incumbent Senator Rachel May (D & WFP) and challenger Republican Onondaga County Legislator Rich McCarron (R & C). That will be followed by the “The 120th Assembly Forum” with Oswego County Legislative Chairman James Weatherup (R & C) and Timothy Allers (D) who are running for the seat being vacated by Assemblyman Will Barclay.

Other invited candidates for the final set of forums and/or interviews are 22nd Congressional Candidate Kailee Buller (R & C), who has agreed to participate in a forum. Incumbent Congressman John Mannion (D & WFP), has not agreed to participate on the date offered for a candidate forum. The deadline for participation for the 24th Congressional District between incumbent representative Claudia Tenney (R & C) and Democrat Alissa Ellman (D & WFP), has not occurred.

Regular “Inside Government with Guy Cosentino” and “Beyond the Front Page with Guy Cosentino” programs will return on Election Day, November 3rd.

All programs are streamed live and archived on the Department’s YouTube channel, Media@Cayuga. Viewers can open YouTube in a browser or app and then enter Media@Cayuga in the search bar. The programs are rebroadcast starting at 10 AM each Saturday morning on the College’s station, WDWN – 89.1 FM.
