Auburn Regional Media Access (ARMA), Auburn’s local public access channel and community media outlet, is excited to announce that we’ve received a grant from the Skaneateles Area Arts Council (SKARTS), allowing us to create a community podcasting/audio recording suite.

“ARMA is poised to grow, and the SKARTS grant allows us to move forward and make public access even more accessible to the public,” ARMA Board of Directors President Joe Salzone said.

As part of ARMA’s mission to give the residents of Auburn, NY an opportunity to inform the community about local issues, engage in public discourse, and showcase local talents, we are pleased to expand into the medium of audio.

“Podcasts are becoming more and more popular,” Station Manager Ed Vivenzio said, “but not everyone has the money to purchase the necessary equipment or has the technical skills to use it. Thanks to the generous support of SKARTS, ARMA will be able to help make sure Auburnians’ voices are heard.”

The suite will allow residents to record and edit their own podcasts and other audio programs with the added option to incorporate video by using ARMA’s video equipment, creating a true multimedia program.

Once the suite is set up, ARMA plans to offer free training courses to familiarize potential podcast producers with our equipment. Updates on the project will be made available at armatv.org and our Facebook page.

Auburn Regional Media Access is an independent, non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors from the Auburn area community whose mission is to help all Auburn area citizens and institutions realize their full potential through community communication, and to encourage and facilitate their fullest participation in communicating their message. ARMA operates the public access channels currently assigned by Spectrum and Verizon FiOS.
